BACKGROUND:

Since its foundation in 1928, the Gate Theatre has delighted Irish audiences with its innovative, experimental productions offering an introduction to the world of European and American theatre as well as classics from the modern and Irish repertoire.

As it draws nearer to its 100th Anniversary in 2028, The Gate Theatre promises, through a world-class programme of performance, to reinvigorate existing work and explore progressive new voices and forms. It is committed to identifying and nurturing a new generation of artists and launching them onto the world stage.

THE ROLE:

The Gate is now seeking a dynamic, creative Development Manager to lead the growth of fundraising and develop sustainable income from a range of sources including individuals, trusts & foundations and corporates.

Please note that while this is a strategically important role within the senior management structure of the Gate Theatre, as it is a new role, the initial contract is for 2 years.

The Development Manager will be responsible for planning, developing, organising, and directing all of the Gate’s partnership and donor engagement activities including: major donor engagement; corporate partnerships and sponsorships; developing and managing a Friends & Patrons programme; and legacy promotion.

A passion and understanding of theatre and the broader arts world and a proven background in fundraising, sales or corporate engagement are essential for this role. It’s important to note that this is a start-up fundraising function and we are looking for somebody with the ambition to grow the fundraising programme and, in time, a team.

If you’re a creative, results-driven, self-starter with a successful track record developing and implementing programmes targeted at corporates and individuals who is looking for a rewarding challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
