The Abbey Theatre’s mission is to effectively and imaginatively engage with all of Irish society through the production of ambitious and courageous theatre, in all its forms.

Founded as Ireland’s national theatre in 1904, the Abbey Theatre has played a central role in reflecting Ireland’s evolving cultural, political, and social identity. It has done so through the creation and staging of an important literary repertoire which has helped Irish people to understand and communicate what it means to be Irish, in Ireland and abroad. This role continues, as the nation’s sense of identity continually evolves, and our population becomes increasingly multicultural and diverse.

The Abbey is artist-led and audience-focused. All artistic programmes are driven by ambitious, big ideas by theatre-makers of all disciplines, relevant to the times in which we live, and communicated effectively to all citizens and stakeholders.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Donor Engagement Co-ordinator with excellent administrative and relationship management skills to join the team at the Abbey Theatre.

As theatre and the Arts sector emerges more resilient than ever in a post-Covid world, the Donor Engagement Co-ordinator will play a key role balancing multiple projects and priorities, be calm and organised and have an aptitude for working with figures as well as a keen eye for detail.

The role will focus on stewarding and building relationships with current and prospective donors, both individual and corporate. The person will support the Donor Engagement Manager in the preparation and reporting of sales data, regularly process donor renewals, prepare for and attend events and contribute to communications internally and externally. The person will act as primary point of contact on all donor related administration.

To succeed in this role, you will be analytical and process driven. You will also enjoy working collaboratively and approach your work in an innovative and enthusiastic way.

This role will appeal to you if you are a customer and business/ sales focussed person, who is very organised. Previous experience in fundraising would be advantageous.

If you appreciate and value the role of the Arts in our Society and are genuinely excited by the Abbey Theatre story, we would love to hear from you!
