Cyclone Rep Theatre Company – AUDITION FOR TWO FEMALE ACTORS FOR UPCOMING TOURING PRODUCTION – [Fully paid work]

HAMLET:CYBERMADNESS

Cyclone Rep, a Cork-based Theatre in Education company, is looking for TWO female actors to play multiple parts in Hamlet:CyberMadness.

Playing age range is 20-50. It would be ideal if the actors have good movement skills and could play comic as well as dramatic roles.

Rehearsals will begin mid-January leading to the opening at the Watergate Theatre in Kilkenny on February 22. The tour will continue in 6 further venues until March 22 with two shows daily Monday to Friday at 9:45am and 1pm (except on mid-week get-in days).

After March 22, there will be a break until re-rehearsal in early April for a week of performances in Herxheim, Germany with performances at the Chawwerusch Theater which will take place during the second week of April.

This is fully paid professional work. It is important to note that Cyclone Rep is located in Cork.

Unfortunately, we cannot afford accommodation for out-of-town actors due to skyrocketing rentals.

So, please be aware that, if cast, actors need to sort out their own accommodation while in Cork. However, accommodation will be covered for actors when outside of Cork plus a stipend (unless they are already living in Limerick, Dublin, etc.).

Interested female actors should send a self-tape of a Shakespeare monologue of their choosing along with a
CV and headshot to peadar@cyclonerep.com

The deadline for submission of self-tapes, resumes, and headshots is Monday 4th of December, 2023.

A little about this adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic: Cyclone’s production of Hamlet continues our mission to make the works of Shakespeare relevant for young audiences. In Shakespeare’s day, many mental health problems were simply labeled as ‘Madness’, a key theme in Hamlet. In this production we propose young Hamlet’s Madness is fueled by his addiction to smartphone technology, resulting in anxiety, paranoia, feelings of isolation, and depression. This will be an innovative take on this timeless classic that aims to connect with students by bringing Hamlet and Shakespeare’s language into their world and times.
