Seeking candidates for hourly paid occasional teaching in our Department
Call for CVs for our Hourly Occasional Assistant Lecturer Pool
About us
UCC’s Department of Theatre delivers a range of programmes unique in Ireland. Our BA Theatre and Performative Practices brings together theatre and performance theory, histories, dramaturgy, community and applied practices, somatic practices, voice, and the devised making of work in both solo and group formats; we look at a wide range of work for the stage, and when our students perform, it in work they have made or adapted themselves. Our MA Arts Management and Creative Producing, delivered in cooperation with Cork Opera House, is pioneering, and its graduates work throughout the arts and culture sector; every year its students develop their own co-produced events that set the stage for their next career steps. Our MA Theatre and Performative Practices explores the relationship between theatre and performance, activisms, and artistic research, with strong theory-practice integration; this year students have explored eco-feminist approaches to making work and engaging audiences, and will shortly be exploring theatre and its intersections with disability, queerdom, racialisation, and other historically and/or contemporarily marginalised communities.
What we’re looking for
In any given semester, we may be seeking suitable hourly occasional associate lecturers to take up temporary, occasional roles delivering or co-delivering select modules on our programmes. We are currently updating the pool of CVs of persons who might be interested in taking up work with us on an hourly paid basis. If gaining third-level teaching experience would be useful for you, and if our departmental description feels that it has an affinity with you, please send a CV to: theatre@ucc.ie, and clearly mark Hourly Paid CV Pool in the subject line. If work comes open that maps on to your profile, we will be in contact. Please note that we are not normally able to engage persons who do not hold at least an MA or MRes level qualification, and in most cases advanced third-level study is preferred – knowledge of academic writing and grading practices at third level can be as important as practical skill. Please also note that our teaching location is firmly in Cork City.
