Galway Film Centre and RTÉ are delighted to announce the return of the GFC / RTÉ Short Film Commission Scheme. The scheme is an opportunity for individual writers, directors and producers to apply for an award to produce a live action short film of up to 10 minutes. Successful candidates will also be provided with mentorship and guidance from a host of experienced industry professionals.

Last year Sarah Ingersoll’s script The Bridge beat off stiff competition to be selected for production and was directed by Mark Smyth, produced by Lynn Larkin and stars Peter Coonan (Love/Hate, Belly of the Whale, Drummer and the Keeper) and Lochlann O’Mearáin (Finding Joy, Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope,). Previous projects made under the GFC/RTÉ Short Film Commission include Mother, Looks Like Rain, The Boring Diary of Frances Noone. These GFC/RTÉ Short Films have screened at festivals worldwide and have been broadcast on RTÉ as well as being nominated for multiple IFTA Awards.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 3pm on Friday 28th June 2019
