We are looking for suggestions for the below roles and would love to hear your thoughts. PLEASE PUT ADULT IN SUBJECT. We will not answer private messages.
O’Rathaile
(early 40’s) — The Sacristan of the local Church, a power-hungry man who feels superior to his neighbours. A smug and condescending bully, O’Rathaile is one of the few men on the island who doesn’t work a physical job. The sort of man who’ll smile while twisting the knife into you.
Paddy Joe – WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR FEMALE OPTIONS FOR THIS
(early 40’s to 50’s)
A small, bespectacled man who owns the local pub and is friends with everybody. Quick witted but gentle, Paddy Joe lends a compassionate ear to the islanders and their troubles, but knows better than to take sides when an argument starts.
Mr. Maguire
(50s)
Tall, thin and stern, Maguire is a mid-level authority in the Commission of Irish Lights, and Seamus direct supervisor. He’s a reasonable man, but will not tolerate challenges to his authority.
Gearoid
(40s – 50’s)
A weathered face from years of cold sea air, Gearoid is a loud and friendly boat captain who loves to watch and remark on the comings and goings from the island.
Breandan
(late 30s)
An old friend of Seamus’ and the island’s police authority, who is sent out to enforce the priest’s will. He’s lanky and quiet spoken and is not figure of authority.
Sean Dubh
(late 20s/late 30s) — A fourth generation fisherman who looks older than his age, Sean Dubh is the cruelest and angriest of O’Rathaile’s hangers-on, who shares O’Rathaile’s deep disdain for Seamus and adds his own sense of despair to the equation.
Eoghan Rua
(late 20’s/late 30s)
A boat repairman, Eoghan Rua is loud and impulsive, the biggest drinker in a community of big drinkers.
Sean Ban
(late 20s/early 30s)
The youngest and wittiest of O’Rathaile’s acolytes. Though he wouldn’t challenge O’Rathaile directly, he’s the unofficial leader among the three followers.
Peadar (60s) — The kindest of the old men and quietly one of Seamus’s greatest advocates, a man who knows what it’s like to come from the outside and try to fit in with this insular community. Peadar is small and has softer features than the island’s other older men.
Padraig Og
(60s)
A relaxed. fun-loving former fisherman, who loves music and playing cards. Not the smartest of the bunch, he’s got a funny smile and loves to joke around, happily drifting with the tides.
Ruairi Rua
(60s)
A retired boat repairman, Ruairi is a big drinker, with a craggy, expressive face and a lot of scars. He prefers not to speak English and resents outsiders. He mostly only speaks to his friends, the other old men of the island and worries about his son. who inherited his taste for whiskey.
