DOG EARS SEEKS PRF BUILD & RIG SUPERVISOR

4 month contract- Derry

Start Date: September 2019

End Date: Jan 2020

We are looking for an experienced Build & Rig Supervisor to join our team. We are looking for a person that values the power of visual storytelling and wants to help us bring the beautiful world of Puffin Rockand all it’s lovable characters to a bigger stage.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated artist who has built rigs and is capable of maintaining a high level of visual and technical quality for all characters and assets
  • Experience in a fast paced animation production – TV and/or feature
  • Preferably at least one years experience as a Supervisor
  • We are seeking an artist with strong communication skills, good team management and proficiency in technical problem solving
  • Good knowledge of Rigging Techniques in Moho (previously Anime Studio Pro) software would be preferable but is not required. Otherwise, experience rigging in another Digital 2D Animation Software such as CelAction or ToonBoom and/or CGI experience with Maya or 3D Max is required
  • Potential travel to international Partner Studio.

Responsibilities

  • Update & prepare existing rigs for delivery to partner studio
  • Prepare guide of rules for future builds
  • Create & maintain an efficient library to be used across three studios
  • Deliver responsible and clear models to the animation department
  • Ensure the technical requirements of the build and rig processes are met
  • Resolve technical and creative problem arising with creative supervisors
  • Ensure prompt delivery of the rigs to a high quality in a reasonable time agreed to in the schedule.
  • Work closely with the production team to organise and prioritise model constructions according to production needs
  • Work with the Production Team, build and maintain current rig information on Shotgun

6 month Contract – Derry

We are looking for an Animator to join our team.  We are looking for a person that values the power of visual storytelling and wants to help us bring the beautiful world of Puffin Rock and all it’s lovable characters to a bigger stage.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Good knowledge and experience with Moho (previously Anime Studio Pro), though experience in another Digital 2D Animation Software such as CelAction or ToonBoom (bone animation) and/or CGI experience with Maya or 3D Max can be acceptable depending on experience
  • Good team player and communicator
  • Able to work calmly under pressure and without constant supervision
  • Must be organized and have a good eye for continuity and detail.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the final output of assigned animation tasks
  • Incorporating and refining animation from the TV Series into the models as well as making new animations as needed for new and existing characters
  • Providing feedback and working with the build department on testing character models
  • Take direction and respond well to notes and pitch creative/technical solutions to potential problems
  • Provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes on a regular basis with production staff.

Dog Ears are looking for a Scene Prep Artists to join our team. We are looking for a person that values the power of visual storytelling and wants to help us bring the beautiful world of Puffin Rock and all it’s lovable characters to a bigger stage.

Requirements

  • Prior similar experience working in a fast-paced production environment
  • The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of camera work, staging, timing,composition and film language principals.
  • Good knowledge of Moho (previously Anime Studio Pro) software would be preferable but is not required. Otherwise, experience in another Digital 2D Animation Software such as CelAction, After Effects or ToonBoom (bone animation) and/or CGI experience with Maya or 3D Max are required
  • Strong problem solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Building of Moho files as well as adhering to technical requirements for the files, such as layering of layout and character placeholders and colour-coding and labelling as needed
  • Creatively in files, adding in timed camera moves, posing and adding in animation as required. Composing and staging scenes in adherence to the Puffin Rock Film Language
  • Meet deadlines as established by production management
  • Liasoning with and resolving technical and creative problems as they arise, with creative supervisors
  • Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staff.

SELF-SHOOTING PD, BELFAST – the role will start from mid-October, for 8-9 weeks, until just before Christmas. Applicants must be skilled in both producing and directing and be able to self-shoot on both FS7 and C300 cameras. Candidates should be confident building strong rapport with contributors and have previous factual credits in broadcast television, including observational documentary experience if possible. All applicants must hold a full clean UK/ROI driver’s licence (and be over 25 for insurance purposes only). CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS AUGUST 30th. 

JUNIOR RESEARCHER/RUNNERS, BELFAST  –  We require two junior researchers/runners. The first role will start at the beginning of September, for around 10-11 weeks, until the end of November and the second role will start around mid-October, for 8-9 weeks, until just before Christmas. Candidates should be confident building strong rapport with contributors and have previous factual credits in broadcast television, including observational documentary experience if possible.  Applicants must be comfortable assisting crew on location and be able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for factual TV research. All applicants must hold a full clean UK/ROI driver’s licence (and be over 25 for insurance purposes only). CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS AUGUST 23rd.

PRODUCTION CO-ORDINATOR, BELFAST   – the role will start in early September, for around 10 weeks until the start of November. Applicants should be meticulously organised, confident liaising with crew / facilities and have exemplary communication skills. Role will involve assisting the PM with a wide variety of production tasks, from setting up / risk assessing shoots, completing post-production paperwork and managing costs. Experience using Silvermouse and a full clean UK driver’s licence (over age of 25 for insurance purposes only) would be beneficial. Applicants must be skilled, confident and have previous factual credits in broadcast television. LOGGERS, BELFAST   – We require two media loggers, both to start in early September, and run for 8 weeks, until the end of October. Screen Academies Production Assistant

Salary: £18,000 pa, pro rata – plus 9% employers pension contribution

The Screen Academies Production Assistant will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Screen Academies Manager in the co-ordination, administration and delivery of Screen Academies in Film, Animation, Production Design, Film Construction and Games Development.

We are seeking a self-starter, a good team player and someone who is willing to work Saturdays and unsocial hours to provide opportunities for young people (aged 16-19) seeking a career in the screen industries.

This is a 7 month fixed contract from September 2019 to end of March 2020.

KA-BOOM SEEK ONLINE EDITOR

Ka-boom Post Production is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Online Editor to join their busy post production team.

Based in Belfast City Centre, Ka-boom is one of Northern Ireland’s leading post production facilities. Our work spans a wide range of formats including TV commercials, documentaries, factual and entertainment series and feature films.

The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of the full post-production pipeline with particular skills in picture finishing and digital mastering workflows. Experienced in delivering to network broadcasters.  The candidate must be self-reliant with good communication and time management skills, as well as have the ability to work well to tight deadlines.

Experience required:

  • Finishing broadcast content to an exceptional visual standard
  • Preparing programmes for delivery to network broadcasters
  • Preparing and testing files to DPP specification
  • Experience in preparing files for multiple delivery formats and territories
  • Preparing file formats for delivery to sound studios and grading departments
  • Good understanding of VFX and compositing workflows

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Two years online editing experience in a professional environment
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with AVID
  • Working knowledge of Baselight, Da Vinci Resolve, After Effects and Photoshop
  • Proficiency in both Mac and PC
